December 2016
Dear Steven ,

I remember a time before emails when people would call each other. And before that people would send congratulatory messages by telegram. One such, from Fiji, is displayed here.

I am a sucker for anything that has my initials in it. Not very often does a stamp come along that would fit that description- but lo and behold there is a railway station in Southern Rhodesia called Shamva and its designation was SZ. And the Rhodesia Railway system produced railway stamps for same. There are some 82 different stations, several printings and....you get the idea...a check list by Geoff Brakespere can be seen here, an article here, and some stamps here.

If you are trying to fill up those blank spots on a page, selvage can be the bane of one's existence. However, interesting things inhabit this real estate which include plate numbers, and position identification among others. Some examples of this for the 1935 NZ pictorials are shown below.

Other items:
1. Grenada post card
2. Commercial Pacific Company letter from Guam.
3. PNG local rated overprints. I can offer four of the nine values mint.
4. NZ first days in the Chatham Islands...an interesting subspecialty

We are also listing NZ postal rates post 1987 for the first time, courtesy of Stephen Jones.

Please enjoy, critique, and comment as always, I enjoy it !

Happy Holidays to all,
